Went out this morning with Scott with the intention of doing some speed work.  Did a five mile warmup around a 7-7:30 pace.  Then off to the races, for about 20 seconds.  Then the death march commenced.

Headed back out for 9.25 meandering through Lindon with Wes.  A comfortable 7:44 pace.  Pace has been getting slower as the week goes on.  gee, wonder why.   I thought today was thursday for most of the morning, guess I was wishing it was thursday.

Slightly more than .05 I guess, maybe .1 at a 6:00 pace. I guess I did get a 6:33 and a 6:39 mile in (felt like my legs were sand), Looks like I had a quarter at a 6:08 pace.

Big miles lately!

Don't worry about slowing the pace as you are adding in more volume - its probably the best thing you can do to stay healthy. You get all the same aerobic benefits at 8:15 pace that you do at 6:45 pace... and if it keeps you healthier and therefore you are able to keep the miles up, the payoffs are huge. I pride myself in my ability to jog around at 8:30 pace when I am doing hard training! :-)

Thanks for the advice. There are so many unknowns when breaking new ground. When I get this fatigued I wonder if/when I will ever feel "recovered" enough to do a long temp run at a speed I know I should be able to run, but just through fatigue, or weariness, just don't have it in me to push to that pace. I imagine that doing big daily mileage gets easier, eventually, I guess just like it did when I started a few years ago. Would be nice to get the brain cloud to clear up a bit. Have been surprised at how well my legs end up feeling towards the 2nd half of my 2nd run.

Nice miles man. I may have missed it in a previous post, but why all the miles now? Are you targeting a particular race? Or just gearing up for an awesome season?

JPark - I thought I'd give actual training a try this week, well, at least the long miles part of it, haven't been able to add the tempo miles in as much as I'd like. I am hoping to break some new ground for myself at Utah Valley marathon this year. I started running 3 years ago at 238.5 pounds, and want to run a 2:38:30 marathon, and hoping to do that this year as a master's runner.
