Finished a week of 2 a day's to get to at least 20 a day with a 20 miler Saturday morning.  Ran with Jake and Andrea's group from Tanner park.  Rode up with Scott and Matt who have really helped me stay motivated and break new ground this week.  I am very surprised at how I have felt doing this kind of mileage and at a not too bad of a pace.  We averaged 7:09 for the 20 miles this morning with 1700 (garmin) feet of elevation change. It was fun running with a new group.  My right hamstring started to tighten up a bit yesterday, was able to stretch it out enough before the run that I didn't feel any effects from it during the run. Both my achilles tendons and calves are getting very tight and sore while I sleep, will need to spend some time with them in hopes of working out the soft tissue issues.

A freekn' awesome week, brotha! What a great accomplishment! Look forward to experiencing more firsts with you this year. Nice work!

Awesome run and incredible miles lately Dan. Just pay attention to the body - ice, stretch, make the easy days easy, etc. This will be a big year for you - I admire your motivation and commitment!

Very impressive week and it was great to meet you today.

Be careful about ramping up the mileage too quickly! It's almost always a recipe for injury.

Great to meet you today. Amazing week. If you feel any tweaks a few days of cross training or low miles won't set you back a bit. Keep it up.

It was fun running with all of you, thanks for the advice, which I always love to get. The next two weeks will be lower mileage, maybe another week like this in a few weeks. Not sure I can do this high of mileage every week, not that I ever thought of getting anywhere close to this mileage in a week before about wednesday of this week.

That's the smart way to approach it, Dan. Couple weeks up, then back it down to let your body absorb the training, then cycle it back up - repeat, repeat, etc. You'll stay healthy and be running in the 2:30s this spring!

From Rob on Sun, Jan 15, 2012 at 10:32:13 from 12.217.166.2

You could listen to these "experts", or just do it like I do and go from 70 miles to 138 in one week.

Nice job though, some day I will be in town and come run with your group.
