Ran 10 from Scott's with Reed, Scott and Matt.

0 degrees, 5 am.  Awesome run.  Best I have felt in a long time.  Did 5 mile pickup just below breathing hard stage which is a good place to be when it is that cold out.

Finally figured out a way to put my hips back in easily, which magically makes my hips from not working to working.  Was able to run relatively pain free 8 miles in 60 minutes on the treadmill.

Did 8.3 on the treadmill in 60 minutes with a .25 at 12 mph, which felt great to get the legs moving again.  Did 2 miles on the track.  10 minutes on the stairmaster.  It feels so good to be able to run without the crazy pain in the pelvis.  There is hope for a Boston finish.

List of troublespots.

Both Achilles, but more on Right

Left TFL

Both glute medius

right hamstring

right adductor

right inner quad

So happy you are seeing some progress and figuring out your puzzle. Hope it continues to get better. I could hear the excitement in your voice yesterday which was awesome. I've got slight spine twist and right tfl left. Both of us may pull one out of the hat yet...

Can't tell you how incredible it is to feel like I can run again!

8 miles on elliptical in 60 minutes, 1 mile around track in the am.

Did mostly elliptical this morning to try to give the TFL's a break, though it tightened up the left glute.

Both TFL, very sore yesterday, and some today, iced

left glute, very tight during elliptical

right hip flexor getting tight again

PM  6 mile trail run on the BST in Orem.   It is hot outside.  Trails were mostly awesome.  A few muddy/snowy spots.

Left hip fell out while running, stopped at park and used some guys running board to put my hip back in.  Glute immediately tightened up when it went out.

Was able to run with the group this morning, and actually kept up, of course it was the easy day, but still.  Hip was out slightly, probably si, but still worked mostly.  Most of the muscle pain from the last couple of days has dissipated, maybe due to a very long cold laser session yesterday, and some foam rolling last night.  10 miles didn't use to be very far.

It was great to run outside with the group again.  Been way too long, and too many months of running with pain, really happy to have turned the corner this week.

Had to pop the right SI into place this morning, but got it in with the yoga block and ran 10 with Scott and Mike.  Great morning for a run.  So good to be able to run all week. :)

Are you still planning on going to Boston?

From Dan Varga on Fri, Mar 08, 2013 at 09:52:45 from 65.44.116.4

I'm planning on going and running. I have no expectations on how fast it will be, but 4-5 weeks of training after a couple of months of not running should be enough to not make it too painful of an experience, hopefully.

It's great that you are feeling betterish. We had gone too long without one of your Army tank stories. Here's to your continued recovery!

thanks guys. Hope things start working with your hammy soon Matt.

Scott, it was good to run in the same general direction as you again. :)

Ran with the group this morning.  Had hip and low back issues the first few miles so had to stop and try to fix it while they did another 2+ miles before they turned around.  Finally got them working and had a nice paced run back to the park.  Headed back out for another 8 mile out and back.  I hit mile 4 and stretched for a minutes. The guys came flying back a few minutes later and I started chasing Mike.  Took a few hundred feet to get moving but felt decent and pushed down to 6:30ish range for the last 4.  Felt great to get moving again.  Hope things continue to function for a decent build back up before Boston.

Great to have you back Dan.

Ran the BST in Orem with Wes.  The trails are fantastic and the best weather of the year so far.  Great run other than I had to stop and pop my SI joint back into place a few times during the run, which then takes another 100-200 yards after I put t back in for the muscles to wake back up and work properly, then got some good pushes going up and down on the way back.  Felt great to be able to open up a bit, though I felt some high right adductor twinges and a little right hammy twinge, usually when the SI was out though.

Ran from Runners Corner up the canyon and back.  Good run, nice weather, though a little chilly for what I was wearing, but bearable.  Had to stop a few times to fix the SI.  Was good to see Toni and Spencer and run with them for a bit.  Felt good for a lot of the run.

Hey Dan, How's it going? I hope you are getting out for some runs. See you around.

From Dan Varga on Sat, Jul 27, 2013 at 13:13:38 from 65.130.112.192

Hi Fritz. Thanks for checking in. I have ran about once a week since Boston, without much success. Still trying to figure out how to fix my si joint so I can run again. How have you been doing?

From Fritz on Sat, Jul 27, 2013 at 15:18:30 from 65.100.192.74

Hi Dan, I am sorry to hear that. That must be super frustrating. Are things improving at all? I had IT band issues starting a few weeks before Boston and had to bow out obviously. Then it got worse and I couldn't run at all until late June. But over the past few weeks I have been able get back into it and had a fairly good race at the DesNews Half on Wednesday. What has really helped is going to a bootcamp type class once or twice a week where we work on core, upper body, and lots of hips. Well I hope it starts to get better soon.
